Passikudah to be promoted as a Tourist Zone
The Tourism Promotion Bureau has launched a programme to develop attractive places in the country as tourism zones.
Under the new programme Passikudah area in Trincomalee will be developed.
Accordingly several new tourist hotels will be constructed in the area.
Government has allocated a land extent of 100 acres for this purpose. Several investors have already come forward to start hotel projects.
Nearly 700 rooms will be constructed in these hotels. A branch of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and a Tourist Police station will also be set up in the area.
In addition a model tourist village is to be set up in Induruwa area.
