Muslim deputy mayor for Jaffna after one year

The EPDP today signed an agreement with the All Ceylon Muslim Congress (ACMC) to offer the deputy mayoral post of the Jaffna Municipal Council to a Muslim member after a lapse of one year. Both parties contested the election to the Jaffna Municipal Council under the betel leaf symbol of the UPFA.
The EPDP fielded 20 candidates and got nine of them elected to the council, and the ACMC secured its slots for all the four members put forward by it.
ACMC leader Minister Rizad Bathiudeen told Daily Mirror online that the deputy mayoral post would be offered to one of his members after one year in terms of the agreement signed with EPDP leader Minister Douglas Devananda.
