Vavuniya – Jaffna rail track under construction
Construction work is now in progress on the rail track from Vavuniya to Jaffna, passage that links the North and South. It was in 1990 that the terrorists blasted the Nochchimudai Bridge along this track.With the return of peace to the North, the Yal Devi train is ready to operate beyond Vvauniya, overcoming the Nochchimudai obstacle. The bridge is under re-construction. The work is due to be completed by the end of the month.Accordingly, the desire of the Yal Devi train is to operate up to Omanthai reaching another juncture in the vigor given by the Government.
