OPD services at Government hospitals extended till 8 pm
The government has decided to extend the clinical time at Out Patient Department of all main hospitals in the country till 8.00pm from Monday (15).Accordingly, OPD services at the Colombo National Hospital and other main hospitals in the provinces will be be kept open till 8.00.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa had directed the health minister to provide round the clock service at the OPDs of government hospitals in order to facilitate the poor patients. Deputy Minister of Health Mr Mahinda Amaraweera said that as an initial step the ministry has decided to keep the OPD services of main hospitals opened till 8.00 pm.
“We will observe the progress of the services provided by these main hospitals during this extended period and will take action to provide round the clock service depending on the success as instructed by President” Mr Amaraweera told news.lk.
Colombo National hospital and other main hospitals coming under the line ministry of health and the provincial hospitals coming under the respective provincial councils will provide OPD service till 8.00 from tomorrow.
Once this initial project becomes a success OPD services in other district, rural and peripheral hospitals will also be kept open round the clock said deputy minister Mr. Amaraweera. news.lk
