Israeli court sentences Nelly to 20 months in prison
NABLUS, (PIC)– The international Tadamun (solidarity) foundation for human rights said that the Israeli military court of Salem issued a few days ago a 20-month imprisonment sentence against Palestinian female prisoner from Nablus city Nelly Al-Safadi, 34, and ordered her to pay a fine of 2, 000 shekels.
The foundation said that Nelly was kidnapped from her home on November 12, 2009 and her husband has been also in Israeli jails for more than seven years serving a sentence of more than 11 years
It noted that Nelly’s husband became blind in prison and waiting for another trial to be held against him to extend his imprisonment on allegations of his involvement in banned activities in the jail.
The suffering of Nelly was not confined to her detention in Israeli jails, where one of her borthers, Farid, was killed in 1996 and the other four brothers, Fouad, Saleh, Ma’moun and Hasan, were either kidnapped or wounded by Israeli gunfire.
Her father also died of heart attack when he saw Israeli troops violently rounding up one of her brothers in 2007.
In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Wednesday kidnapped seven Palestinian citizens in the cities of Nablus and Tulkarem.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that a large number of Israeli troops stormed and ransacked the homes of these seven Palestinians and took them to interrogation centers near their residential areas.
The IOF also kidnapped on Tuesday evening a Palestinian couple, Abdel Majid Abu Miyalah and his wife, after a violent raid on their home east of Al-Khalil city.- palestine-info
