One World One Ummah

British Education and Career Suicide

with 2 comments

Omar Mohammed
The notion of adding a qualification such as an ACMA, BA, MBA, PHD after ones name and adding an Al HAJ before the name has been the latest craze amongst the Muslims living in Sri Lanka. Education is sought after not for knowledge but merely for economic gains, prestige and status. This is absolutely against the Islamic view.

The British qualification has gained much prominence in our society but the Ummah fails to realize the underling agenda behind the British educational system . Read the rest of this entry »

Why this sinister “hate-Muslim” campaign now?

with one comment

By Latheef Farook
There is a growing feeling and fear among Sri Lanka’s Muslims that a sinister campaign has been underway inciting the Sinhalese against them. The campaign portrays Sri Lanka’s Muslims as a threat to Buddhism, the Sinhala people, their culture and the country as a whole.

While 18 websites – eight in Sinhala and ten in English — have been identified as part of this campaign, the Sinhala print media also carry articles on topics such as the 1915 riots and cattle slaughter, rousing communal disharmony at a time when every effort should be made to bring communities together. Lankamuslim.com: The murder of the Puttalam police officer W.Navaratne Bandara by some unruly thugs was a much awaited opportunity for some racist individuals, contemptible media and petty politicians who used this opportunity and fanned the fires of racism.

The mainstream media showed off their un-professionalism by falsifying the actual incident and deliberately omitting key incidents. They misled the public to believe the actual culprits were the Muslim community not only in Puttalam but also in other areas such as Valachanai Irakkamam, Sammanthurai Pottuvil, Kinniya, Muthur and Kattankudy , Kalmunai. Muslims at Crossroads

Omar Mohammed
Lankamuslim.com:The Muslim community in Sri Lanka has reached cross roads. The road they choose will define their fate. Will they lead the business community of Sri Lanka or will they fade off to be history.

We cannot blame others for our failures and for our declining knowledge of today’s business world or for the government for closing down the loop holes in the system. The Muslims have always stuck to the traditional business style, not adapting to the changes in the way business is done. Read the rest of this entry »

Develop the country with us not without us

Lankamuslim.com: For three decades we fought a war that drained our economy, destroyed our lives and saw the educated and talented leave this beautiful Island. The country nearly lost half of its size, which to some was a freedom struggle and to others a terrorist takeover. All communities suffered but did we learn our lesson? This war was started by these racist politicians, who had no integrity, self respect or discipline.

The war came to an end with a heavy price. All communities were united again. Things were getting back to normal with everyone pitching in to erase the bad memories of the war. But now we are experiencing a new kind of takeover. Read the rest of this entry »
